Eleonora.Donna Eleonora Tria.Lionora come pronunziavano i napoletani.
This B&B is named after one of the main protagonists of the Neapolitan Revolution of 1799: Eleonora Pimentel Fonseca, called Donna Lionora.
A passionate intellectual, a woman in love with life and with Naples, she was among the first people to understand the need to tie the fight for the liberation of the city to the popular sentiment.
She was the author, along with her friends and companions, of “Monitore Napoletano”, a review written in dialect too, a brave and not so frequent choice at that time.
The rooms of the B&B, like in a fictional path, are inspired to several important places for Lionora: Piazza Mercato, Sant’ Anna di Palazzo, Teatro San Carlo and Castel Sant’Elmo, and also exhibit moments of her life, as they were told in the wonderful book by Enzo Striano, “Il resto di niente”: a tribute we paid to the famous writer, to Donna Lionora and to Naples.

To describe and portray the Castel Sant’Elmo, three original snapshots on the walls along with the words of E.S. will take you on a virtual journey between a Naples that was the stage of Lionora’s life, to Naples today:
…She recognised Castel Sant’Elmo from the plane. “It can be seen from everywhere”, she said, Vincenzo nodded: “That’s why they put it there. Whoever lives there dominates Naples”…

…the first time she saw the famous theatre: it was gorgeous, with its scarlet warmth, with its sparkling lights, jewels, white skins. It gave the impression of isolating from the rest of the world, to keep them all together, the aristòi, the different people, those blessed by fortune, abilities, talents, in a place born to art, intelligence, beauty, which in turn was firmly asking for art, beauty, intelligence…
